The line offers a traditional cruise experience that is more upmarket than rivals such as Royal Caribbean International, but less so than the premium-product ships. Service has been criticised for not being as high as it used to be.
In line with the trend to learn something while on board, Holland America Line recently introduced a culinary arts programme on this ship.SuitabilityAmsterdam attracts older, mostly American, passengers, many of whom are repeat passengers and love HAL’s relaxed, traditional style.
Suits single people and couples, but not recommended for families.
