Overview

This is Princess Cruises' newest ship, launched in summer 2006, and a sister ship to Caribbean Princess, although not identical.

The ship holds over 3,000 passengers, and has been cleverly designed so as not to feel too crowded.

A number of features have been added that have not been seen earlier Princess ships, including several new eateries, a piazza-style atrium, and an adults-only area.

The on-board atmosphere is relaxed, with plenty of options when it comes to eating.
Most passengers are from US, and the food and entertainment is geared accordingly.

Service is good, although passengers are not escorted to cabins on arrival, much to some people's annoyance.

Suitability

The ship’s flexible dining and entertainment options mean it’s a great product for those who hate the regimented cruise experience of other ships.

The ship's excellent kids' clubs mean it is a huge hit with families. However, it also has something to offer for couples looking for romance. It's possible to get married or renew vows on board.

Princess Cruises is the US arm of P&O Cruises; the majority of passengers are from North America and the on-board atmosphere reflects that. Passengers looking for a more British ambiance should consider P&O Cruises instead.

Hints & Tips

Tips are automatically added to your on-board account and can be removed upon request.

Weddings at sea can be filmed by web cam so family and friends can watch at home.

There is an extra charge for ice cream and other snacks outside of the main restaurants.
Because it has good kids' facilities, Crown Princess attracts a big chunk of the family market - many of them American. To escape, visit the adults-only section, The Sanctuary.
