Built nearly 15 years ago, this ship was stretched – chopped in half and had an extra bit adding in the middle – in 1998 to add 250 extra cabins, more entertainment areas and a conference centre.
As with other ships in the fleet, NCL’s Freestyle cruising option sets it apart from other cruise lines, and works well for first-timers who don’t want to be told where and when to dine each night.
More staff have been added since the introduction of Freestyle cruising, and service is relatively speedy and thorough.
Suitability
This is a reasonably priced ship, suitable for frequent cruisers, first-timers and families alike. It is not as big as some of the huge mega-liners now afloat, which will be a selling point for some passengers.
Hints & Tips
There is a cover charge at some restaurants, and reservations are recommended.
For a romantic dinner, book a table at the Four Seasons – it has a nice view.
The kids’ club has a limit on the number of children it can take, so book early.
