Mercury, Celebrity Cruises (Passenger/crew ratio: 2.4) A popular ship with Celebrity regulars, it is elegantly decorated and classy. The foyer has marbled floor, and elsewhere the ship is furnished with wood panelling. Art lovers will be impressed, as Mercury has a $3.5 million art collection on board. Cruise Dates & Itineraries

Millennium, Celebrity Cruises (Passenger/crew ratio: 2.0) Sister ship to Infinity, Constellation and Summit, Millennium is elegantly decorated and has a spacious feel. Features include a golf simulator. Cruise Dates & Itineraries

Monarch of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International (Passenger/crew ratio: 2.8) One of the line’s older ships, the ship is nevertheless impressive and still stylish. Oosterdam, Holland America Line (Passenger/crew ratio: 2.3) Sister ship to Noordam, Zuiderdam and Westerdam, this is one of the newest ships in the fleet (built in 2003) and aimed at a (slightly) younger audience. Serenade of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International (Passenger/crew ratio: 2.4) One of Royal Caribbean’s Radiance family of ships, this vessel has more cabins with balconies than on many other ships of its size. Seven Seas Voyager, Regent Seven Seas Cruises (Passenger/crew ratio: 1.6) With all-suite accommodation, excellent service and lots of space on board, this is a quality product that comes at a higher price than other cruise lines. Silver Shadow, Silversea Cruises (Passenger/crew ratio: 1.3) Silver Shadow is newer than Silver Cloud and Silver Wind and holds about 100 more passengers. It is an elegant and spacious ship, offering gourmet cuisine, and with no annoying on-board announcements and no hard-sell that often occurs on some of the more mass-market ships. Statendam, Holland America Line (Passenger/crew ratio: 2.2) There is a more spacious feel on this ship, as it carries fewer passengers than some others of a similar size. Westerdam, Holland America Line (Passenger/crew ratio: 2.3) One of the newest ships in the fleet, a sister ship to Oosterdam, Noordam and Zuiderdam, Westerdam is aimed at a (slightly) younger audience.
