Despite the Dutch names given to all Holland America Line ships, most of the passengers are American.
The line offers a traditional cruise experience that is more upmarket than rivals such as Royal Caribbean International, but less so than the premium-product ships.

Holland America Line’s newest ship, Noordam was launched in February 2006 and is the first ship to have the full compliment of HAL’s Signature of Excellence enhancements.

Sister ship to Noordam, Zuiderdam and Westerdam, this is one of the newest ships in the fleet (built in 2003) and aimed at a (slightly) younger audience.

Ryndam is almost identical to Maasdam, Statendam and Veendam and operates year-round in the Caribbean. It has some interesting décor, themed around Dutch worldwide exploration, with artwork and artefacts from the past 300 years.

There is a more spacious feel on this ship, as it carries fewer passengers than some others of a similar size. Almost identical to Ryndam, Maasdam and Veendam, offering the same, traditional cruise experience that is aimed at the American market.

One of the newest ships in the fleet, a sister ship to Oosterdam, Noordam and Zuiderdam, Westerdam is aimed at a (slightly) younger audience.
Its children’s facilities are an improvement on other ships in a bid to attract the family market.
