Royal Star in a cyclone, March 2004 Reviewer: Jason Edwards from Cambridge The concept of Royal star is great. The idea of a small ship able to go where others can't. An old "yacht-like" ambience with brass and polished wood.
Sounds great! Don't be taken in, the decks are rotting, the cabins are tiny with little storage space. In heavy seas water cascades through the rotting deck and down through the ship.
In cyclone Gafilo in March 2004 the passengers experienced 3 days of hell with severe damage to the cabins, the public rooms and the deck fittings. Fire doors were wedged open! Most of the passengers thought they were going to die!
