Costa Magica not in the least magical, September 2005 Reviewer: Dennis Loggins from Penn Valley. California USA Although the cabins were spacious and well appointed, the sound proofing is not adequate. Many Europeans eat late and are partying late and your sleep suffers. The handling of large numbers of people to debark at the various ports is inadequate and frustrating. We waited in line for 30 minutes one day to get back on board after a shore excursion.
The food at the buffet was adequate and plentiful. However, in four weeks of travelling in Italy we never had such lousy pizza as on the Costa Magica. The dining room dinners were all very mediocre. We had one dinner that was quite good. One out of seven is not a very good average.
Smoking areas were located so that you could not travel about public areas without being overwhelmed with second hand smoke.
This was our fifth cruise and although the service staff was very effecient and courteous and the ship was spotlessly clean I would not rate the ship as being any better than good. You can get more from your cruise dollar elsewhere and I would recommend you do so.
