While the Diamond Princess is a beautiful ship, we found that there were just too many people. This was our 4th cruise with Princess and we were disappointed at the crowded conditions. In order to see a show in the Princess Theatre, it was necessary to arrive a minimum of 45 minutes in advance in order to secure seating; the same was true of some of the daytime entertainment as well.
The lines for disembarking for the various on-shore excursions were very long. We also found the layout for the restrooms to be very inefficient, with the towel holders across the room from the sinks, causing people to drip water across the floor after washing their hands.
We found the public areas of the ship to be extremely cold.
While the food was very good, it did not quite match the food we had on the Sea Princess or the Sun Princess.
On the plus side, Our room steward, Peter from India, gave exceptional service as did one of the staff members in the Horizon Court Buffet, Dimitar from Macedonia. The shows in the Princess Theatre and the Explorer's Lounge were excellent.
We fully intend to travel with Princess again, however we hope it will be on one of the smaller ships.
