Cruise Reviews :: Write a Review on this Ship

1 out of 5 StarsDisappointing cruise, September 6th 2006
Reviewer: Lee Stafford-Gill from Guernsey
I sailed on the Carnival Destiny in September 06. It was truly awful. The cabin we had was an outside cabin and we paid about 1800 each.

We arrived in Barbados and joined the ship, the staff were rude and very unhelpful, there were always queues a mile long for the purser's desk for complaints. Our cabin had dirty black marks all over and the light fittings fell off the wall. The bathroom was smelly and nothing worked properly. the tiles in the bathroom were all smashed. The window was so black you could hardly see out of it. The corridors were constantly cluttered with children listening to their iPods and the launderette was either closed or nothing worked. The veggie options were terrible and the most choice I ever had was cheese sandwiches, chips or egg fried rice for a week!!

The clients on board the ship were, by a huge majority, Spanish American. Not that this was a problem, but be aware, queues in the restaurant to most of them do not exist. And the entertainment on board is 90% of the time in Spanish. The only English entertainment was a comedian who made Chubby Brown sound tame. We were moved cabins two days before we left and the air conditioning was broken - a regular problem, one of the pursers told us.

This ship is dated, tatty and has had its day, the glitz and glamour you expect from a cruise is certainly a far cry from the Carnival Destiny!! Formal nights are not formal and dinner suits are not required. This ship is hell on earth and, as per a reply we have had from Carnival, "all British guests receive the same cabins every week" - so do yourselves a favour and stay well clear of this ship, your clients will have so much upset and dispair.

Also you are made to disembark in Puerto Rico for about 7 hours without breakfast, and don't let the staff tell you any different. I wouldn't recommend to anyone this cruise and the itinerary is very disappointing.
