Never Again, Feb 2006 Reviewer: Tim Lauridsen from Wisconsin This was our third cruise and the first with our kids (7 and 11). Upon arriving we were given our cabin which had obviously housed a very heavy smoker on a previous cruise. The odor was overpowering. We checked with the pursar and found the ship was full and we couldn't move.
After asking for the cabin to be de-odorized several times, we were offered a lower class cabin three days into the cruise. We were not offered any compensation if we took the lesser cabin. On the fifth day of a seven day cruise, a higher class cabin magically appeared for us to take. We were told that the cabins are all smoke free, but then the pursar told us that people can smoke in their cabin because they have no way of enforcing their policy.
The lines were very long throughout the cruise and contrary to reports of a "kid friendly" atmosphere, my children were very unhappy with the size of the pools, which were usually filled with adults. The water slide was closed about half the time also. I will not cruise Carnival again, but the other cruise lines I've been on were fine-Princess and RC.
