Thomson Destiny is the biggest ship in the fleet, although, like all Thomson ships, it does feel very crowded. A value-for-money cruise, with a British atmosphere and some of the traditional cruise elements, such as (optional) waiter service lunch and dinner and captain’s cocktail party.
Service is acceptable, although you may have to wait a while for a wine waiter in the main restaurant. Food is rather samey, although of an acceptable standard for most passengers, many of whom are so loyal to Thomson they return again and again. The ship provides traditional entertainment, such as West End shows, Austin Powers sing-a-longs and magic shows.SuitabilityA good option for first-timers who want a good-value package-holiday cruise experience and who want to sail with fellow Brits rather than Europeans or Americans.
Also hugely popular among loyal Thomson cruise fans.
There are better kids’ facilities on Thomson Spirit.Hints & TipsGratuities are included.
Many people choose the pre-paid all-inclusive drinks package to keep on-board costs down, however there are restrictions on drinks.
You can combine a seven-day cruise on Thomson Destiny with a land stay at a hotel before or after the cruise.
The ship used to operate in the US market, so take a US-style plug adaptor.
