It does lack the facilities of bigger ships. For example, there is only one hairdresser on board and no beautician. Entertainment can be rather samey, although there is a cinema with tiered seating, and the beauty of being on a small ship is that it is possible to request repeat showings if you missed the film first time.
The ship will operate its first round-the-world cruise in 2006.
Staff are generally friendly, and the housekeeping is superb. However, there have been reports of waiters getting agitated when hurrying passengers on the first sitting for dinner to get out at 7.50pm in order to prepare for second sitting.SuitabilityGood for first-timers on a budget, particularly older people who prefer to travel without children (although there are children on board during summer).
Tables can be close together, meaning movement at breakfast can be difficult.Hints & TipsPassengers have complained that soot from the funnel can mark clothes. The front desk has a bottle of stain remover on hand for this very reason – or you could pack your own!
A charge (approx £4 per day) is added to onboard account for tips. This is removed upon request. There is also a charge for paying your account by credit card, and deposits are charged for borrowing books and games.
Coach transfers to and from the ship are included in the price, although if you take up this option, there can be a long wait to get on board.
