Overview

Emerald Princess is the latest big ship from the Princess stable, offering a blend of relaxed and informal cruising combined with high levels of service.

Most passengers will be American, but Princess has a big following in the UK and in other countries so cruises have a truly cosmopolitan feel.

The ship’s décor is stylish and elegant, with light colours that are gentle on the eye, but with a hint of glitz in the piazza and Crooners Martini Bar.

Special features include The Sanctuary adult-only area on the top deck, the Chef’s Table dining experience and piazza-styled atrium with roaming magicians, acrobats and musicians on hand to entertain.

Suitability

With its variety of entertainment and facilities, Emerald Princess is perfect for families, but also cruising couples who want to a spot of pampering.

Princess lays on activities for children aged three to 12 in two clubs – Princess Pelicans for the 3-7s and Shockwaves for the 8-12s. Teens aged 13-17 can meet in Remix, where there is ping pong and Playstations, dance parties, casino nights, talent shows and teen dinners.

The adults’-only Sanctuary, on the top deck, has loungers with comfy mattresses and iPods on free loan. There is a small charge for access.

Hints & Tips

Get to the Sanctuary early if you want some adult time. There is only room for 50 people and the area is very popular.

Look out for the free cookies and milk that are brought around on the open decks and in the atrium at 3pm.

Per person gratuities are automatically added to all on-board accounts at the end of each day. These are optional and can be removed on request.

There are two formal nights on a seven-night cruise, more on longer voyages. Tuxes and lounge dresses are recommended but not compulsory.

Couples can be married at sea by the captain in the wedding chapel.

Groups of up to 10 can book a Chef’s Table, where they watch a specially-designed dinner bring prepared, based on local dishes where possible, and dine on the results. The substantial charge includes wine.
