Like its predecessor, it was built for exploration cruising at the poles so it has an ice-strengthened hull and comfortable cabins and looks very smart but is not in any way glitzy or glamorous.
It also has a car deck with space for 25 vehicles in case Hurtigruten ever needs to use Fram for cruises along the Norwegian coast, where the company started as a ferry operation in the late 19th century.SuitabilityFram is ideal for cruisers who are more interested in the places they are visiting than the ship they are travelling on. This would suit older couples and single people, although there are no single cabins, who want to get close to nature and are happy to make their own entertainment.Hints & TipsHurtigruten advises a reasonable daily gratuity. Passengers fill in how much they want to leave on a form two nights before the end of the cruise and the total will be added to the cruise account.
Mini suites with numbers prefixed QJ have limited view.
Many excursions in Polar Regions will be by inflatable Zodiac so passengers need some mobility to embark/disembark.
