Overview

One of the line’s Vision-class ships, Rhapsody of the Seas has floor-to-ceiling windows, a seven-storey atrium and retractable glass roof over the pool area.

There are fewer cabins with balconies than on some of the newer, bigger ships in the fleet. Service is friendly.

Suitability

Good value for money and popular with couples, families, first-timers and experienced cruisers.

The ship has family suites, however, facilities for younger children are much better on one of the bigger, newer Royal Caribbean ships.

Hints & Tips

Text-mad cruisers will be pleased to know that mobile phones can be used at sea.

There are free ice-cream and yoghurt dispensers around the ship.

As on many big ships, the excursions sell out quickly.

Pre-paid drinks packages for adults and soda packages for kids are available.

Passengers have recommended buying the wine package, available on the first night, where you can get seven good bottles of wine for about £100, which works out cheaper than buying individual bottles.

15% gratuity is automatically added to drinks bills.

There is a charge for some exercise classes.

Rock-climbing is free, but it is popular and you have to book in advance.

Tips can be added to your on-board account, or paid individually to staff at the end of the cruise.

Online check-in is now available.
