The food was fantastic, much better than any 4-5* hotel I've been to on a full board basis anywhere in Europe.
The shows in the evenings are really good, they were on a par with shows in London that you would pay for.
Our cabin was nice; the bathrooms, however, were very small. This was fine for us as we were only on the ship for 2 nights, but with a 7-14 night holiday i think it would get me down.
We opted for the 'Bruges at you own pace' excursion. We had a really nice day out.
Overall we had a great weekend, we have already booked another Mini Cruise for September 2008.
This Ship Rocks!!!, November 2003 Reviewer: Bev Dulson from Wirral What can I say about this ship - she is amazing. She is everything I thought it would be and more. I loved every second. The main atrium of the ship is spectacular, with glass lifts either side of the staircase. When you walk down them in your posh dress for the formal nights it almost feels like someone is going to hand you an oscar at the bottom. We saw 9 Caribbean islands on this ship and the carnival atmosphere on board the ship is something you can't describe - you have to experience it. The feeling of standing out on deck with the cocktail of the day, listening to a steel band as you sail off into the sunset is fantastic. The staff onboard - especially the entertainment team - make you feel so welcome and are really friendly the waiters know your favourite food and drink by the end of the first week. If you've ever fancied a cruise but never quite got round to it - book the oceana today - it'll be the best thing you ever do!
Dream Holiday, November 2006 Reviewer: Rebecca This was the best holiday that I have ever been on. The service is exceptional, everyone is polite and remembers your name. There are four formal nights on the two week cruise which are wonderful, this is where all the men wear a tuxedo and the women wear ballgowns, everyone looks amazing. The islands that we visited were amazing, Grand Cayman and Jamaica were the best, we went horse riding on the beach and in the sea in Jamaica then we went to climb the Dunns River Falls which was exciting. On board there was a tropical night where there was a worst shirt competition which was hysterical.
The ship is for young and old. The entertainementis is really good, there is a new show on every two nights, there is also comedians and singers. There is a kids club on this ship and you never see any children for most of the cruise. I have only been back for three days and I am already looking for my next cruise.
I would definatley recommend this holiday experience to everyone, young and old ......
FANTASTIC TIME ABOAD "OCEANA", APRIL 2006 Reviewer: Sherri Clifton from Derbyshire This was our first cruise and I am sure it will not be our last. I cannot fault the ship, or the crew in any way. The food was excellant, the service was too.
My only regret is that i went out of school holiday time, and there was not enough people of our age group, and was very few of my daughters age. I was told at the time of booking this holiday that there would be a vast amount of children but this was not the case. I would in the future , check thais before i travel.
My holiday was great, and the people we did meet were fab. I will go with P&O again, we had a wonderful time.
Avoid school holidays for an even better cruise , sept 29 2004 Reviewer: Alex Pino from London We celebrate our honeymoon on board Oceana, the cruise was hectic once the tours started, but at the same time fantastic.
The only criticism I have is that there were just too many children on board, about 400, and most of them ran wild on most nights after midnight. The pools were always full of kids and sounded like a heard of fairy elephants running over your head as we were unlucky enough to have a cabin on deck 11.
This said, the staff, the food, the atmosphere and the itinerary were awesome. Five star food and service, entertainment to rival the west end and a fantastic casino. The food was always of an excellent standard, served and presented in the same fashion with the Indian waiters making each dining experience a true pleasure. A really good selection of fine wines and port are available but not always advertised. (Ask your wine waitress) The bars are very well stocked and my personal favourite was the Pennant bar, the best kept secret on the ship. The bar staff are super efficient and really go out of their way to help and please.
The cabins are of a comfortable standard and always spotlessly cleaned twice a day. (Look after your cabin steward, a £10 tip at the start of your cruise goes a long way!!). I would however recommend a mini suite if you can afford one, but if not, an outside with a balcony on deck 10 or below would be best, for the reasons stated above (noise).
If you are a family, you can forget the kids 24/7 (but please don't let them charge about after midnight!!) there is so much for them to do and take part in.
If you are disabled, a cruise is for you, there were a number of disabled people on board who were very relaxed and catered for perfectly. Although some of the shore trips may be a little taxing or even impossible to attend for the severely disabled. In Short, it was fantastic, but next time we will book a mini suite and not go during the school holidays. Highly recommended.
