Overview

One of five Voyager-class ships in the fleet, Adventure of the Seas is among the biggest and most impressive on the ocean, carrying over 3,000 passengers.

It truly is a real community at sea, complete with shopping mall and adventure activities including ice-skating and rock climbing. There are even party parades throughout the main street.

The ship sails out of San Juan, Puerto Rico and caters mainly for the American market. There is a fair amount of upselling on board, which UK passengers may feel uncomfortable about.

The size of the ship means service is friendly rather than sophisticated, and you don’t get the attention to detail and the special, personal service that you will find on smaller ships.

A good value-for-money cruise. This cruise line has some of best cuisine in its price range.

Suitability

An excellent choice for couples, singles, first-timers and experienced cruisers, as there is so much to do on board. Good value for money.

All Royal Caribbean ships are suitable for families, but Adventure’s sheer size means there is even more on offer for kids.

This is a huge ship – carrying over 3,000 passengers, and will not suit some people who prefer to travel on smaller vessels. And passengers who want a more British experience may prefer to travel on P&O.

There are lots of tannoy announcements, which can be annoying.

Hints & Tips

Suite passengers have their own club for breakfast and evening drinks.

Text-mad cruisers will be pleased to know that mobile phones can be used at sea.

Although there is a wedding chapel, please note that it is only possible to get married while the ship is in port. However, vow renewals can be made while the ship is at sea.

Recently, the cruise line introduced online check in, allowing passengers to fill in their details prior to boarding, making the embarkation process much quicker.

Pre-paid drinks packages for adults and soda packages for kids are available.
