5 out of 5 StarsFantastic Holiday, May 06
Reviewer: Ken Watts from Staffs
We did 2 weeks on the Island Escape, the Venitian Adventure. The whole time on board was brilliant and the trips were excellent. The meals and entertainment were also excellent. We will definitely be going again as soon as we can.

4 out of 5 StarsFab Cruise! Especially For 1st Timers, October 2006
Reviewer: Gary Murphy from Hull
This was the first cruise i had ever been on and went on it the first time in June 05, since then i booked for October 06 and am booked on for July 07 - i love it! the cabins are comfortable and ive been on the Coral, Diamond and Golden Decks - they are all fine. the food in the Oasis restaurant was fantastic and i would really recommend at least 1 meal in here!
The 6 bars on board cater for everyones needs and the Pub is a good place to go before your evening meal. the shows are well put together and professional although the stage is quite small. make the most of the showcase on the first day on the cruise to find out all the weeks excursions.
i would recommend Island for first time cruisers and those liking Ocean Village, lots of people who travel with RCI and P&O would like Island as a "Cheap getaway"

5 out of 5 StarsA great ship for first time cruises , August 2005

Food was great, lots of entertainment, cabin was massive compared to what I imagined it would be like.

4 out of 5 StarsGreat for first time cruisers, September 2006
Reviewer: Claire Hall from Weston-Super-Mare
Had a great week on Island Escape and enjoyed most aspects!

Food was fab and lots of it. Beachcomber restaurant is buffet service with seating inside and out. Loads of choice and very friendly staff who cant do enough for you. Island restaurant is also buffet style but you have set times with this one. Tables are a little close together so felt quite cramped and the food is the same as the Beachcomber so didn’t really use this one!

The Oasis restaurant is defiantly worth a visit. The food was amazing and served very quickly. It is worth paying the cover charges in here. We even had the waiter Victoriano serenading us as we drank our wine. The chef is very attentive and checks on all the guests to see if they have enjoyed their meals.

Cabins were small and you can tell it is an old ship from the bathrooms as they are quite dated but they are spotlessly clean. Do your research on the ports of call and try to travel independently if you can as trips are expensive for what they are. Entertainment ok, but they do get fab comedians on board 3 or 4 times a week.

All the foreign staff onboard were extremely friendly and work long hard hours whereas any English staff seemed rude and full of themselves apart from the Captain. Watch yourself if you do the all inclusive as not all drinks included and if you order 2 drinks give them 2 cards as they will charge you for one of the drinks otherwise!!

The swimming pool is very small and looked a little bit green so we didn’t use this and if you have a day at sea get up early if you want a good spot in the sun!! Would do again because of the staff but will defiantly be wiser this time!!!

5 out of 5 StarsFantastic product and great for first time cruisers! , 2003,2004,2005

I have been on the Island Escape for 3 years running now and recommend it for any one!! Yeah its no 5 star cruise ship but its clean and well presented and the service on board is 2nd to none!! The excursions are by no way over priced and they run in line with all other cruise ships - if customers don’t want to take an excursion then it’s quite easy to get off and do your own thing. Drinks are not over priced and again are about average for a cruise ship.

The restaurants cater for everyone and the Beachcomber is great as its all self service and you can eat outside on deck in the sun!

The entertainment is really well put together and again caters for everyone, if you don’t want to see a show you can simply enjoy one of the other bars or casino etc..

The cabins are a bit small but the amount of time you spend in them is minimal and you really only use the cabin to sleep in.

I would definitely recommend this cruise ship and iv'e already booked to go on the Island Star next year

4 out of 5 StarsGreat for first time cruisers, September 2005

I have been on Island Escape once with my family we were all very happy with it, The service is good and the cabin maids were excellent the atmoshere is casual, if you prefere more traditional cruises then its not for you.

Would recommend for families and first time cruisers, food good selection I was quite happy with the free drinks package I received as you could have cocktails of the day etc, plus the red wine was very nice. The excursions were overpriced and hectic. Would recommend to go on them but best to make your own way.

5 out of 5 StarsGreat for Everyone!, April 03 and April 04

I have been on the island escape twice! it is a fab holiday for everyone!

There is so much to do on board and with it being an informal cruise it is fab! the entertainment is really good on board! the staff on board the ship are so helpful and would do anything for you at any point of the day! it was great value for money!

Highly recommened!

1 out of 5 StarsA floating Butlins, March 2005
Reviewer: Alan from Hertfordshire
The ship is tired and entertainment poor. Very little to do at sea. Three restaurants one is a'la carte, pay extra for the other two are selfservice the Beachcomber is more like a works canteen plastic cups most of the time for tea and coffee.

After life boat drill at 10am 1750 passengers trying to get served in one restaurant. Still waiting for the advertised sailaway party that never took place.

Only one professional act for 7 days Syd Little the rest is by the onboard team. The arrival and departure arrangements went very well no problems.

The toilet in the cabin got blocked and gave up trying to get the air con working after numerous complaints.

The onshore excursions OK but expensive £33 for just a drive around Rome no stops. Do not bother with the all inclusive not allowed bottled beer only draught. A pint of Stella £2.55 cocktails approx £2.85. No hair dryers in cabins.

The staff are very friendly and try hard alot are from Brazil. Our cabin maid was brilliant and could not do enough. As you sit at a different table each meal you meet a lot of people and most of them had not many good things to say about life on board. Would not go again on this ship and could not recommend it. This company is taking over the Horizon next year hope it is better. Good cruising
